Goa welcomed a whopping 10.4 million tourists in 2024, marking a solid 21% growth from the previous year – and October is where the magic truly begins!
With lush post-monsoon vibes and significantly fewer crowds than during peak season, October offers the perfect time to soak up the sun on beautiful Goan beaches.
Hey, if you’re planning an escape to sandy beaches and spicy curries, I’ve got you sorted. I’ve been fortunate enough to see more sunsets in Goa than I can count, so let me share my reasons on why October 2025 will be the best time to go to Goa.
Last year, I arrived in mid-October and was greeted by a quick rain before being greeted by glowing green beaches and happy vibes – trust me, it’s a chance worth taking!
The Weather Scoop: Is It Still Raining in Goa This October?
In a nutshell? Yes, but it shouldn’t ruin your trip. October is the end of monsoon, so expect some rain (around 126mm average spread out over about half the month).
Daytime temperatures hover around a pleasant 33°C, then drop down to about a nice 24°C at night, perfect for relaxing and not melting.
I distinctly remember on my last trip to Goa, hiking to see some views near Panaji in October, and even though it was raining lightly, it cleared quickly and made everything look like an emerald paradise. One tip I always tell visitors.
Use the AccuWeather app or something similar to check the forecast for Panaji for your beach day(s) – it is spot on. If it rains, grab a feni at a local bar and enjoy the waves crashing. Nice and breezy and damp down there — very refreshing.
Top Spots to Hit Up in Goa This October 2025
Goa is full of spots that become vibrant after the rain. The beaches are a great place to start – they are less crowded and clean, and with the green backdrop. The beaches are really beautiful around October.
Here are some of the places you can explore in Goa in October:
- Palolem Beach: Its curved shoreline is made up of fine sand surrounded by relatively calm ocean. I hung out here on my last trip, drank king coconut, and watched out for dolphins – so dreamy! Great options too for yoga or silent disco, which is starting to develop here.
- Agonda Beach: More relaxed vibes, good for a walk. Rent a kayak for ₹500 an hour and paddle out. I spied a sea turtle once, no word of a lie.
- Dudhsagar Waterfalls: Gushing ridiculously after the monsoon. You can do a trek or get a jeep (₹400-600 entry) – my group got soaked with the mist, we were laughing the whole way around. This was the best option early morning to beat the haze.
Old Goa should not be missed for its Portuguese churches – the Basilica of Bom Jesus is a must-visit place in Goa.
The Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary has lush trails that are busy with birds. FYI, over 400 species come here after the rains!
Lit Activities to Do in Goa This October
Adventure is waiting for you in Goa this month. Water sports are starting up again after the rainy season.
I tried jet skiing last October, and the waves made it super exciting! You can go parasailing at Baga Beach for about 1000 rupees, feeling like you’re flying over the ocean.
Scuba diving at Grand Island costs between 2000 and 3000 rupees, and you might see colorful fish and corals up close.
Some other things that you can try on yur October trip in Goa:
- You can join a fun festival called Purple Fest from October 9 to 12 in Panjim, where everyone celebrates being inclusive and accessible with music and activities.
- Take a nature trail on Chorao Island to see birds and green plants; it’s peaceful and you can rent a bike for 200 rupees a day to explore.
- Visit Dudhsagar Waterfalls by jeep for 400 to 600 rupees; the water falls hard after rains, and I got misty and wet but had a great laugh with friends.
- Go on a spice plantation tour to learn about plants like pepper and cardamom; it includes a yummy lunch and costs around 500 rupees.
- Try an overnight houseboat cruise on the river for 1500 rupees per person; last time, I watched stars and listened to water sounds all night.
- Join a cultural walk in Old Goa to see old churches; it’s quiet in October with fewer people, and I felt like I stepped back in time.
Don’t miss birdwatching in the wildlife sanctuary; over 400 kinds of birds come after the rains, and it’s a calm way to spend the day!
Packing Hacks for Your Goa October Trip
When packing, think smart. Prefer lightweight t-shirts, shorts, and breathable fabrics. These are a must, and cotton is your best friend!
Sunscreen (SPF 50+) and sunglasses, and a hat are also must-brings, especially after I forgot it once and turned lobster red. A light rain jacket or umbrella is a good idea, too—showers can pop up out of nowhere.
Definitely flip-flops for the beaches and comfortable sneakers when trekking or hiking.
Mosquito repellent is a must-have! Very important in the evenings. And a reusable water bottle, to stay hydrated and conscious of single-use plastics.
For women, flowy dresses can work day to night, and for guys, pack quick-dry length shorts.
Budget Stays That Won’t Break the Bank
October is the shoulder season in Goa, which means lots of deals are available! Aim for North Goa for good vibes and cheap prices too! Baga or Calangute are good options!
Pappi Chulo Hostel, Vagator: Super chilled, this place is close to Ozran Beach, and dorms start from ₹500/night – I stayed here briefly; great bar, met lots of visitors.
Mistral by the Sea, Benaulim: budget rooms for around ₹1500 on the beach. This was clean and offered breakfast.
The Hosteller Goa, Old Goa: Rooms start around ₹700 and have a pool, vibe. This is especially good for solo trips.
Book in advance as rooms fill fast in October!
Foodie Heaven: Must Try Cuisines in Goa in October
Food in Goa is tasty and fresh, especially seafood from the sea. Try places like Purple Martini for yummy meals with ocean views. I ate there last October and couldn’t stop! New spots like Tashi’s Cafe offer fun eats like Japanese food mixed with local tastes.
- You can enjoy pork vindaloo, which is a spicy meat dish cooked with vinegar and garlic; it’s a Goan favorite that provides warmth on a rainy day.
- You can also experience crab xec xec, which is crab cooked with coconut and spices; this is crunchy and bursting with the flavor of the sea.
- At one of the shacks, you can also enjoy prawn balchão; these are small shrimps that are pickled and spicy, served great with bread.
- You can also taste sanna, a soft steamed rice cake; this is great with curry and your gut will thank you!
- You could also have some Goan red rice served with fish curry; the rice is nutty and the curry is made with fresh coconut milk.
- You need to bite into choris pão, a sausage stuffed into bread; it’s like a hot dog, but made with Goan spices! Delicious for breakfast.
- Don’t forget poee, a fluffy bread baked in wood-burning ovens; it is best enjoyed with a dip in tea or curry sauce.
- Save room for bebinca, a sweet layered cake; it’s gooey and tastes like coconut and sugar in every bite.
Head to Britto’s in Baga for a seafood platter with prawns and fish fry for 800 to 1200 rupees; it’s fresh and spicy!

Here’s a simple plan for 3 to 4 days in Goa this October. It’s easy to follow and fits the nice weather.
- Day 1: Relax at the Beach and Water Activities! Your trip will begin with a beach briefing at Palolem Beach and a swim in the calm water. Later in the afternoon, you will be trying out water sports such as jet skiing or parasailing. You will end with a nice walk on the beach that you won’t forget. I once saw dolphins jumping as the sun was setting! You will be staying in South Goa for a quieter feel.
- Day 2: Nature. On this day, you will be heading to Dudhsagar Waterfalls first thing in the morning by jeep. You will do a small hike to see the misty waterfall for yourself. You will then be heading to lunch at a spice plantation and learn about spices. One of my favorite things about the plantation that I went to was tasting fresh fruits.
- Day 3: Culture and Festivals. On this day, you will explore churches in Old Goa like the Basilica of Bom Jesus. If you are traveling from October 9-12, you will be a part of the Purple Fest in Panjim where you can enjoy music and other fun activities. You can end the day with a river cruise in the evening. My friends and I were dancing on the boat the last time I went!
- Day 4 (Optional): Relax and Shop. You can rent a bike and go for a ride around Chorao Island, and do some birdwatching. You can shop for your spices or clothes in the Margao Market. You will finish your trip with some beach yoga at Agonda, which is a great way to relax before you head back home.
Pro Travel Tips for Crushing Goa in October 2025
October in Goa has nice weather, not too hot, with some quick rains. Pack light clothes that dry fast. I forgot my rain jacket once and got wet, but it was fun anyway! Use apps like GoaMiles for cheap cabs from the airport, about 1000 rupees.
- Rent a scooter for 300 rupees a day to zip around easily; it’s freedom to find hidden beaches, but wear a helmet always.
- Drink lots of water and use sunscreen; the sun can still burn your skin even on cloudy days.
- Stay in well-lit places at night and use ride apps for safety; Goa is friendly, but be smart.
- Don’t litter on beaches; they are cleaner after rains, and we want to keep them pretty.
- Book hotels early because October gets busier; aim for 3000 to 5000 rupees a day for stay, food, and fun.
- If it rains, go inside to museums or spice farms; I turned a rainy day into a learning adventure once.
- Respect local people and try speaking a bit of Konkani; a simple “hello” makes them smile.
- Fly into Mopa or Dabolim airport; Mopa is newer and less crowded this time of year.
Safe travels, and enjoy the green beauty!
